Weeding out NIMBYism
Well, well, well. It seems that as the date approaches for the first recreational marijuana shops to open, more and more communities in Massachusetts are getting cold feet – including towns that voted overwhelmingly to legalize the bud. That includes Brookline, where they voted 17,803-11,066 to legalize recreational marijuana statewide. But now, in a community […]

Budding confusion
Marijuana has been back in the news lately, but really, when has it not been in the news over the last several years? The latest headlines have pot users in a panic – and not the kind that comes from ingesting one too many brownies. No, this time it’s like, real, man. The Feds are […]

Weeded out
The good news for the Cannabis Community is the Massachusetts Legislature finally finished tinkering with the law making recreational marijuana legal and Gov. Charlie Baker has signed it. The bad news is the first pot shops won’t open for another 324 days. But who’s counting.

Zoned out
I know some people don’t like me to write about marijuana, but the subject has been in the local news a lot lately and it’s kind of my job. So this constitutes a trigger warning for those delicate flowers of the Cannabis Community whose heads tend to explode when I write about pot. (Rest assured […]

Last chance for Mary Jane
A lot of people who plan to vote “Yes” on Question 4 will be in for a big surprise after it passes. They think the ballot question to legalize marijuana for recreational use is about making it so that people won’t go to jail for smoking a joint. But what it’s really about is allowing […]

High resolution
This week, the Wakefield Board of Selectmen passed a resolution opposing the legalization of marijuana, dealing a devastating blow to the local Cannabis Community. On the bright side, most of them were too high to notice. Dude, don’t the selectmen know that people have a Constitutional right to smoke weed? The Constitution was written on […]

By MARK SARDELLA The campaign to oppose a likely question on the Nov. 6 election ballot seeking to legalize marijuana for recreational use is picking up steam, as State Senator Jason Lewis appeared before the Board of Selectmen on Monday to present the case for voting “no” on recreational pot. Lewis headed a year-long study […]

Not hot for pot
It’s been a tough week for the Cannabis Community. Last weekend, the Boston Globe published an op-ed piece opposing legalization of marijuana co-written by Gov. Charlie Baker, Attorney General Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. Then, adding insult to injury, on Tuesday the much anticipated Report of the Special Senate Committee on Marijuana was […]

Oh, wow, man. Bummer about the new bylaw banning public consumption of herb. Dude, it’s another attempt to snuff out our Constitutional right to toke up anywhere, anytime. I’m pretty sure it’s in the Constitution, because George Washington grew hemp on his farm, man. And he was, like, the father of our country and stuff. […]
